Teaching
In 1973, Martin Beck, in association with the Jan Thompson Talent Agency (JTA) started teaching professional actors the nuances of auditioning for commercials and motion pictures.  This course was called "The Audition". He continued to teach private classes or small groups of actors until he left Charlotte, NC in 1991.  In 1997 he was given the challenge of teaching one gifted 12 year old, Margaret Wommack.  Now Margaret is an advanced 20 year old actor who is a sophomore at Vassar and Martin is teaching private lessons to a select group of very talented young people.  His course has been expanded to include performing for the stage as well as for commercials and motion pictures.  He bases his theories on his own acting experiences and on his 30 plus years as a director. He also uses the studies of the great American master acting teachers, Stella Adler and Uta Hagen.
